The Very Hungry Caterpillar.. As told by Afia

"A little egg layed on the leaf and one sunny morning, out the egg popped a little tiny very hungry caterpillar and then he started looking for some food. (Afia goes and gets the book). On Monday he ate one apple. On Tuesday he ate through two pears. On Wednesday he ate through three plums. On Thursday he ate through four strawberries. On Friday he ate through 1,2,3,4,5 5 oranges. On Saturday he ate one lolly one cherry cake on sausage one cupcake and one big slice of cake. That might he had a stomach ache. On Sunday he ate through one leaf and felt much better. He wasn't a little caterpillar anymore. He is a big fat caterpillar. He made a cocoon and pushed himself in so he can sleep inside and he stayed in there for more that two weeks and then he on Monday again he turned into a beautiful butterfly. The end".

The Life Cycle of a Butterfly

"The caterpillar is long and here's a apple and here's a a orange and a strawberry, he's got to eat cos he's so hungry like the story we read" (I wonder what will happen when he has eaten all the food...) "He not a hungry caterpillar anymore and not a tiny caterpillar anymore cos he's eaten all the food". "Miss now I I do a cocoon, cos he can live and be warm and then he turn to a big beautiful butterfly, I can do a butterfly too you know. The hungry caterpillar has a baby I think so he comes in the egg.. I think so the egg fall down in the tree in the bushes. I make a tiny egg, little, little egg, crack out I think it going to be a baby caterpillar".

Minibeasts

This term we are learning about 'Minibeasts'. We have started our topic by reading the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' written by Eric Carle. In two weeks time we will be visiting the Butterfly House at the Natural History Museum, which will be a great chance to observe butterflies and learn more about them.

Terrific Technology

This week during our ICT time we learnt how to label farm animal pictures using software on Purple Mash. First we had to choose which animals we wanted to put onto our farm, then we dragged the sounds we could hear the animal's name onto the picture. Here are some examples of our work:

Crystal Palace Park and Farm

As part of our topic 'All Creatures Great and Small', we went to visit animals in a farm, we had so much fun. We have been learning about ordinal numbers, here is a recount of what happened on our trip:

"First we walked out of School and walked past Creams and got the bus"

"Second we got to play in the park where there was a curly whirly slide, and I played in the dinosaur eggs"

"Then we ate lunch, and I had tuna sandwich"

"We fed the ducks bread we never eat!"

"We walked past the dinosaurs swimming in the water"

"We saw the goat and he has horns and a beard and the pig didn't want to see us so the lady gots a banana and then he came to see us"

"Last we got the 3 bus back to school"
